Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has been prohibited by a Federal High Court from giving interviews regarding the case involving him and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission, or ICPC.
The order was included in his bail requirements, which some of the former governor's supporters have called absurd.
But before he is released from detention, a number of requirements must be met, according to the trial judge, Rilwanu Aikawa.
El-Rufai was required by the court to post a N200 million bail bond with two sureties.
A Certificate of Occupancy for landed property was another need for one of the sureties, and the Kaduna State Council of Elders verified that the second surety was a reputable elder in Kaduna State.
"Until the trial is over, El-Rufai and his attorney cannot be interviewed about the case.
The trial judge further stated, "El-Rufai must deposit his passport with the court and report to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission, ICPC, on the first day of every month."
